A dispute between family-based crime groups has been the catalyst for the bungled assassination attempt of 35-year-old Joseph Nee that led to Olivia Pratt-Korbel being shot dead. The nine-year-old was at home with her mum and older siblings in Kingsheath Avenue, Dovecot, when a gunman burst through the door at around 10pm on Monday, August 22. The killer had been in pursuit of 35-year-old Joseph Nee, who forced his way into the house after noticing Olivia's mum, 46-year-old Cheryl Korbel, open the door to see what was going on outside. The gunman managed to get his arm through the door, despite what police described as "the best efforts" of Ms Korbel, and fired a shot which hit Ms Korbel in the wrist and then struck Olivia, who was stood directly behind her mum. He then continued to shoot, wounding Nee in the torso and legs. Detectives have identified the two guns used during the shooting through ballistic analysis, but the guns themselves have not yet been found. They include a .38 revolver that killed Olivia, and a Glock-type self-loading 9mm pistol which was fired at the gunman's initial target, Joseph Nee. Crimestoppers has increased the reward on offer for information leading to the conviction of the killer from £50,000 to an unprecedented £200,00 - the biggest single reward offered in any case in the charity's history. Here is everyone who has been arrested as part of the investigation so far: A 36-year-old man from Huyton now known as Lee Hickman (Main Suspect), was arrested on August 25 on suspicion of Olivia’s murder as well as the attempted murder of her mum and Joseph Nee.
